Group Classes

REGISTER FOR GROUP CLASSES!

We’ve set the foundation at home, so now let’s add the challenge of a group setting!

OVERVIEW

Existing clients (those who have had at least one private training session with Leanne), including those who completed a 2021 Obedience class, are eligible for all group classes.

Non-clients (those who have never worked with Leanne) must be evaluated prior to joining group classes. Evaluations will be held at The Spry Farm once per month and are free of charge. Owners will simply be evaluated on their ability to handle their dog on-leash A) in a new environment and B) walking past Leanne’s dogs (on-leash). All dogs will be evaluated one at a time. Evaluation dates are listed below.

Non-clients, who are unsuccessful with their evaluation, may schedule a 30 minute training session ($50), at The Spry Farm, to learn proper leash skills / handling techniques, and try again at the next month’s evaluation.

REGISTER FOR AN EVALUATION (Non-clients):

We have indoor and outdoor spaces to hold classes, so they will run in all weather.

Looking for a practical training goal? Then let’s prep for The Canine Good Neighbour Program!

“The Canine Good Neighbour Program is a 12-step test, that when completed successfully, will ensure that one of our most favoured companions, the dog, is accepted as a valued member of our communities right across the country. Canine Good Neighbours can be counted on to present good manners at home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs.” (CKC – Canine Good Neighbour)

You and your dog will prepare to complete these 12 steps:

  1. Accepting A Friendly Stranger
  2. Politely Accepts Petting
  3. Appearance and Grooming
  4. Out For A Walk
  5. Walking Through A Crowd
  6. Sit/Down On Command and Stay In Place
  7. Come When Called
  8. Praise/Interaction
  9. Reaction To A Passing Dog
  10. Reaction To Distractions
  11. Supervised Isolation
  12. Walking Through A Door/Gate

(More details on the 12 steps here)

My dogs and I tested in 2021 and are certified Canine Good Neighbours. With enough enrollment and interest, I am willing to organize a testing/evaluation day, with an official CKC CGN Evaluator as well!
